Out of time…again
November 2022I’ve just caught up with my journal page for December in time for Christmas and now I’m out of time to write up November.
So instead I’m celebrating the long anticipated opening of the redeveloped Gainsborough’s House Museum in Sudbury.
Thomas Gainsborough was born here in 1727 and In 1958 the Gainsborough’s House Society was formed to buy the house and establish it as a centre for him. The Museum opened to the public in 1961 and remained open for over 50 years until 2019 when it closed again to be transformed into a national centre for art. The house has been refurbished and a new three-storey wing is now the largest Art Gallery in Suffolk. Visitors can see Gainsborough’s masterpieces, international exhibitions, contemporary art created in East Anglia and a landscape studio with panoramic views over Sudbury.
Wow! It’s absolutely wonderful and I couldn’t feel more proud.
