April is apple blossom time, a glorious month, full of anticipation and promise.
Imagine my horror then when I discovered my treasured Viburnum opulus - star of the garden in late April and early May was dying...this with the NGS open garden all too fast approaching.
Trawling through books as to possible causes only alarmed me further so for expert advice I have sent samples of soil, root and stem to the RHS at Wisley for analysis and in around six weeks time I will hopefully know the cause.
As for a solution to the empty space it has been suggested that I place a photo named Resticus in Peacibius by way of explanation but today I am planting a junior replacement sunk into a compost filled cardboard box for protection, where it will stay until I get the verdict.
If necessary it will then be re-planted elsewhere but at least no need for the sign on the 17th May!
